Planning and developing curriculum are
fundamental and comprehensive job to
satisfy the feasibility of education. Indonesian development dynamics force the
development of education, like focus on new issues, the problems of teachers,
students, school variation, motivation, student’s ability, technology, and people
needs.
Six principles that have to be high
light are: 1) Same opportunity for every students; 2) Curriculum is not only
about materials, but also about reflections of mathematics activity; 3)
Mathematics learning process needs knowledge of student’s need, readiness, and
educational facilities; 4) The same opportunity for students to study
mathematics and construct their own knowledge; 5) The needs of assessment to
increase the qualities of learning process; 6) the utilization of the lesson strategies
and methods.
On developing curriculum we have to pay
attention on mathematics school characteristics and students’ characteristics.
The mathematics school characteristics are: 1) mathematics as developing
pattern and relationship activities; 2) mathematics as a creativity that needs imagination,
intuition, and discovery activities; 3) mathematics as problem solving
activities; 4) mathematics as communication tools. And the students’ characteristics
are: 1) students learn mathematics if they have motivation; 2) students learns
mathematics in their own way of thinking; 3) students can learn mathematics
individually or cooperatively; 4) students needs different context and
situation to learn mathematics.
There are some aspect that must be
contain on determining the lesson materials:
1)
Fact;
2)
Concept;
3)
Reasoning skill;
4)
Algorithmic
skill;
5)
Problem solving
skill;
6)
Investigation
skill.
