PENDEKATAN MATEMATIKA REALISTIK PADA PEMBELAJARAN PECAHAN DI SMP

As we know that Realistic Mathematics Education emphasize on the constructivism of real phenomena as the starting point for students to get mathematics concept.
The purposes of studying fraction on Junior High School are:
1.      Solve contextual problem and find the concept of fraction;
2.      Understand the concept of fraction, explain the relation between concepts and applied it to fraction problem;
3.      Use logic skill on pattern and the characteristics, doing manipulation and make generalization about fraction;
4.      Communicate the concept and utilizing fraction;
5.      Applying fraction on daily life.
Teachers have to pay attention on some fact about fraction on RME for students, such that:
1.      Students need chances to find and reflect the alternative concepts about the ideas of fraction;
2.      Students need chances to find and get new knowledge about fraction and build his own understanding;
3.      Students need chances to get knowledge as a change of knowledge, included addition, creation, modification, smoothing, rearrangement, and rejection;
4.      Students need chances to get new knowledge about fraction and build his own understanding that comes from many experiences;
5.      Students need chances to understand, eliminate, and implement the fraction.
And in this case, teachers also need to revitalize his/her self for:
1.      Pose his/her self as a facilitator
2.      Develop interactive learning
3.      Give the students chances to get active learning
4.      Develop curriculum and syllabus and relate the curriculum to real phenomena;
5.      Develop learning scenario, such that interaction scheme and competence scheme.
